About Us

JIM LANGOLIS (CO-OWNER): Hi, my name is Jim Langlois co-owner of Illinois Trophy Connections outfitting service. I’ve been an avid hunter all my life with an obsession for GIANT whitetail deer. My career started at a young age. Just out of high school, I worked as a guide at Wild Hill Preserve. There we hunted everything from Russian boar to red stag and everything in between. As great of a job as that was, it just wasn’t the challenge of chasing free roaming animals.

With whitetails being my passion and the Midwest being the place that housed such trophy animals it only made sense to move there. After many hours researching where my odds of harvesting mature whitetails were best, I packed up and moved to Pike County, Illinois. With the Lord on my side, and some really great landowners, I obtained some awesome ground to start my outfitting business, right in the heart of the GOLDEN TRIANGLE.

In 2006, I finally made my life complete marrying my wife Theresa and being a stepfather to two wonderful children Kevin 10 and Jillian 5 in march of 2007.

I had even more good fortune acquiring my new partner Travis Green and his wonderful family. Travis is someone with the same ideas and goals I have of how an outfitting business should operate. Here at Illinois Trophy Connection, it `s not about the money but about the hunter and the landowners. Let’s face it. Without the landowners, I wouldn’t need hunters and without the hunters, I wouldn’t be able to outfit!

TRAVIS GREEN (CO_OWNER): Hello, my name is Travis Green. Born and raised in Southern Illinois, my life has evolved from whitetail deer and hunting in general. I hunted and fished nearly everyday during my childhood. I decided at an early age that my career was going to be in wildlife and the hunting industry and from there I received a degree in Wildlife Management. After that I was able to work in Pike county, Illinois for a few years guiding people for giant whitetails. I have spent the past 8 years managing and running many different ranches in Texas to learn everything I could about Whitetail Deer and everything that relates to them. During those years I got married to a great woman and had two great kids. Since I have moved back to Southern Illinois I was blessed with an opportunity to manage my families private land. Now I have joined together with long time friend Jimmy Langlois and his business to offer an opportunity that has been a dream of mine and for you as hunter.

There are several things I believe set us apart from the other Illinois outfitters.. We care about the little things such as stand position. We customize our stand position on the tree based on whether you are right handed or left handed. We also want to know your comfort zone for tree stand height. We understand these little things can make the difference of you getting the shot you want or not. We want to do everything we can to make your hunt as comfortable as possible.

These are a few things that when you book a hunt with Illinois Trophy Connections we need to know to make this a successful hunt. Here at Illinois Trophy Connections our hunts are what we call semi-guided hunts and let me explain what I mean. The typical week starts on 12 noon Sunday the day before your scheduled hunt for orientation, sign the waiver and get to know each other. Then you would follow us out to the property you will be starting your hunt on. We show you where to park, how you should approach the stand sites for morning and evening then take you to check out your equipment and shoot your bow. The first morning of your hunt we meet you at your hotel at a specified time and have you follow us out to your property (unless you know how to get there). Then we make sure you have everything you need and we part.

After everyone is out we begin driving around looking for deer movement for an hour or so before scouting properties not being hunted.

Our hunters drive to and from there properties for a couple of reasons:

  • If you need to leave for any reason, forgot your release, or lunch etc. you can slip out get what you need and slip back in without waiting for someone to come get you who may be a ways away.

  • If you were to tell me to come get you at 10:00 am and I walked in and you were surrounded by deer and I blew it for you there would be 2 mad people. This way, you can stay as little or as long as you want.

  • We don’t believe hunters need to be babysat. We will exchange cell phone numbers or meet at the truck at specified times so if you need something (shot a deer) you can get a hold of me or your guide at any time other than that you can concentrate on what you paid for hunting!
